Mercedes-Benz G-Class

The G-class might be all new under the skin but the boxy design doesn’t veer too far from the original’s shape. It’s quite a climb in to the G’s high-set cabin, but once there you’ll find it’s got all the trappings you’d expect in a modern Mercedes. Still, the solid thunk on door shut and the panoramic view out make you feel you’re commanding a tank. The front seats are sporty while the rear seats are comfy, even if space is down on what you’d expect in something so large.
The Mercedes-AMG G 63’s 585hp engine is a bomb. The way it propels the 2.5 tonne SUV is plain and simply mad. It sounds mega too but the noise is not quite as deep-throated as the earlier G 63’s. The G 63 is not quick to steer, nor does it have the cushiest suspension, but it’s so full of character that you’ll make some serious concessions. In the rough, the G 63 will go far, and is only limited by its performance tyres.
