Tall and wide as it is, the Mahindra NuvoSport is no longer than a large hatchback. As a result, the NuvoSport looks ungainly and styling isn’t pretty either. The high-set cabin is also a trek up and it’s all very last-gen on the inside. Even quality is not at par with newer Mahindras. You do get a great view out of the NuvoSport and middle-row-passenger space is immense. The third row with its jump seats and lack of space is a punishment posting.
The 100hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine is reasonably refined but also runs at its quietest and best at low speeds. Up the pace with a full load and the engine will feel strained. The NuvoSport’s 5-speed manual is rubbery in shifts and the AMT auto is dim-witted. The NuvoSport is a tall, heavy and ladder-frame-chassis vehicle and drives as so too. It feels larger than its size in town, the high-speed ride is unsettled and there’s lots of body movement too.
