Mini Convertible quick review

One glance at a Mini Convertible and you’ll know what it is. The cabin too conforms to Mini’s new-meets-retro template but you’ll be shocked to learn how many items you take for granted are part of the options list. Snug front seats are part of the package but the rear seats are just about useable. There’s minimal boot space on offer too. However, the Convertible’s talking point is its folding soft top that can be raised or lowered at speeds of up to 30kph.
The Mini Convertible is great to drive. Sure, it’s shy of the 3-Door on sheer athleticism but the Mini Convertible feels alive. It’s quick to turn and the steering is feelsome too. Then there’s the 192hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that can liven up even the most mundane of drives. In all, it’s a fun, fun car with the roof up or down. Do note, there is some scuttle shake on broken patches of road and the stiff suspension does tend to crash about on our roads.
