The sleek Tata Tigor was a good to base to build on and the sportier details the JTP comes with only add to the look. There’s not as much new to the interior, although the black theme with red detailing does give the cabin a sporty appearance. Like the regular Tigor, the JTP offers fine comfort for four and the boot is also of a good size.
With 114hp on call, the Tigor JTP’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine is significantly stronger than the standard Tigor’s 85hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine. You can feel the difference as the JTP is more eager to build speed and is quite happy to be driven hard. Still, a punchier mid-range and throatier exhaust would have been nice, as would smoother power delivery at low speeds. In the corners, the Tigor JTP turns in with confidence, there’s loads of grip from the tyres and the steering feel is also much improved over the standard Tigor. Ride comfort remains good as ever.
