The Tiago JTP’s 114hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol is reasonably fun to wind to its modest 6,000rpm limiter. Performance is warm-hatch good even if the engine doesn’t deliver the mid-range shove you’d expect from a turbo-petrol. Power delivery also tends to be jerky at low speeds. Grippy new tyres and minor revisions to the suspension have added more feel to the steering, making the JTP good fun to chuck into corners. Thankfully, the standard Tiago’s good ride has been retained as well.
With its new bumpers, larger wheels and meatier tyres, the Tiago JTP also looks the business. The interior gets colour and trim updates and bits like the leather-wrapped steering wheel also tell you that this is no ordinary Tiago. A few more features and a more sophisticated touchscreen would have been nice, however.
