Tata Tiago Review

The Tiago looks chic and is rather nice on the inside, as well. The cabin is well-laid-out and also looks relatively upmarket with elements like textured plastics on the dash and a knitted roof-lining doing much to improve the ambience. Drivers will like the view out while passengers at the rear will be happy with the space and comfort on offer.
Where the Tiago feels less special is in its powertrain. The 85hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine can get thrummy and the powerband is narrow. However, performance is more than adequate and its drive modes further help fine-tune the experience. The petrol-AMT works well for the most part but shifts are not always smooth or timely. The 70hp, 1.05-litre diesel feels hesitant at low speeds, isn’t punchy and like the petrol, gets vocal when revved. A light steering makes the Tiago easy to steer and while set to the firmer side, the suspension delivers good ride quality on the whole.
