The Terrano is handsome, with a nose that links it to Nissan’s larger global SUVs. It feels tough and cabin materials have a long-lasting look to them too, but the interior is not particularly premium or contemporary. Seat comfort is good and the boot is also large.
The Terrano’s 104hp, 1.6-litre petrol lacks pep and is unexciting, the 85hp, 1.5-litre diesel is surprisingly effective while the 110hp, 1.5-litre diesel gives the Nissan the necessary go to make it a comfortable highway vehicle. The diesel-manuals have heavy clutches making the AMT auto an interesting proposition. The auto works well enough in relaxed driving but does get tripped when you want a sudden burst of power.
All Terranos deliver excellent ride and feel secure and stable on the highway. The steering isn’t the lightest and there’s some kickback on poor surfaces too.
