While the Xcent has smart proportions, many will find its oversized new grille a bit too extreme in look. Things are far more pleasing on the inside. The cabin is smartly laid out and well finished, and also gets quite a bit by way of features. It's not the widest of cabins so the rear seat is not ideal to seat three abreast. The large and well-shaped boot does up the Xcent's practicality quotient.
Hyundai's 83hp, 1.2-litre petrol engine is peppy and makes the Xcent feel light on its feet in low-speed urban settings. The engine also works well with both manual and auto transmissions. The 75hp, 1.2-litre diesel engine also serves decent grunt. The Xcent's steering is light and easy to twirl but what's really nice is the suspension, both in terms of bump absorption and refinement.
