Volkswagen is readying a new top-spec trim for its Polo line-up in India, slated to be called the Polo Highline Plus. This variant will be available on the non-GT Polo range that comes with 75hp, 1.2-litre, normally-aspirated petrol and the 90hp, 1.5-litre diesel.

The Polo Highline Plus will be priced around Rs 7.24 lakh mark for the petrol variant, while the Polo Highline Plus with 1.5-litre diesel will cost around Rs 8.78 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

Additional equipment over the outgoing top-spec Polo Highline includes new 16-inch alloy wheels and an upgraded infotainment system with standard reverse camera. The Highline Plus Polo is likely to skip the LED headlamps that are on offer on the Vento Highline Plus that went on sale a few months ago. The Polo rivals the likes of the Maruti Baleno, the Hyundai i20 and the Honda Jazz.

The sixth-gen Polo based on the MQB platform was unveiled by Volkswagen last month in Berlin; it will be showcased in the upcoming Frankfurt motor show in September. Though the car will go on sale in some markets in October, it is unlikely to come to India anytime soon.
