Dealers have already begun accepting bookings for the new Highline Plus variants.

Volkswagen’s Ameo will follow in the footsteps of the Vento and the Polo by getting the new top-of-the-line Highline Plus trim. The Ameo Highline Plus trim will be available with the 75hp, 1.2-litre petrol and with the 110hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine.

In terms of goodies, the Ameo Highline Plus gets new 16-inch alloy wheels (up by an inch from the Highline trim) and a tweaked infotainment system that comes standard with a reverse camera. Like the Polo Highline Plus, the Ameo compact sedan will probably miss out on the Vento’s LED headlamps. There will be levels of the Highline Plus trim; one with a reversing camera, and one that gets the reversing camera and the 16-inch alloy wheels.

The price for the petrol variant is likely to start at Rs 7.35 lakh and go up to Rs 7.45 lakh (with 16-inch alloys), while the diesel Highline Plus variant will start around Rs 8.59 lakh and go up to Rs 8.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

Volkswagen’s Ameo competes against compact sedans such as the Hyundai Xcent, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Aspire, and Honda’s Amaze.
