Japanese auto giant Toyota has displayed the new-gen version of its popular Innova at the 2016 Auto Expo. Christened Toyota Innova Crysta, the new avatar of India's favourite MPV gets a huge revision in terms of styling, both inside and out. And under the hood, there will be new 2.4- and 2.8-litre diesel engines, which will churn out more power than the current one. In terms of transmission, along with a five-speed manual, there will also be a six-speed automatic gearbox. Importantly, in light of the issues regarding diesel engines larger than 2,000cc in India right now, Toyota is seriously considering bringing in a 2.7-litre petrol motor to the line-up. The new MPV is expected to be launched in the second quarter of this year at a price that's higher than the current car's.

Also at the Toyota stand is the new-gen Prius. This fourth-generation car is built on Toyota's New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform and according to the carmaker, has improved handling characteristics. The styling has been refreshed and the car has been lengthened overall. Powering the new Prius is an updated version of the current 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol unit in alliance with a more compact nickel battery powered electric motor.

And in keeping with this year's expo theme of electric and hybrid cars, Toyota also has on show the TS040 hybrid Le Mans race car. Nearly 50 percent of the car's staggering 1000bhp output is derived from electricity.
