Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP to be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine making over 110hp.

Tata Motors will launch the Tiago JTP and the Tigor JTP on October 26, 2018. As we had reported earlier, the Tata Tiago JTP and the Tigor JTP will be powered by the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine found in the Nexon compact SUV, with tweaks to the intake and exhaust systems for improved performance.

We also exclusively reported that these improvements will see the turbo-petrol engine churn out more power and torque in the Tiago JTP and the Tigor JTP than it does in the Nexon, figures for which are pegged at 110hp and 170Nm.

While the engine is likely to be mated to a 5-speed manual (unlike the 6-speed unit found in the Nexon), the transmission will have optimised gear ratios, which will likely improve acceleration. Besides the more potent powertrain, the cars will also sport a reworked, sportier suspension setup that will see ground clearance lowered, along with various cosmetic changes such as a larger air intake in the front bumper, exaggerated housings for the fog lamps, red accents all around and air vents in the bonnet and fenders. There will also be new-design 15-inch alloy wheels.

The interiors will feature aluminium pedals and red accents on the black dashboard, leather seats and a leather-wrapped steering to emphasise the sporty theme. Tata will also equip the models with the 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system offered on the Tiago NRG cross-hatch.

When it arrives in showrooms, both cars are likely to be priced at a Rs 1 lakh premium over the standard versions.
