Facelifted Skoda Superb gets cosmetic tweaks to the exterior; likely to feature a new hybrid powertrain.

Skoda has been testing the updated version of its Superb large sedan for a while now. New images have surfaced online which show what the new Superb facelift will look like. Reportedly, the Superb seen in the images is the China-specific model.

The Superb sedan facelift sports familiar-looking full-LED headlamps that now fuse into the seemingly larger grille. Lower down, there’s a revised front bumper that features a larger air dam that stretches across the width of the front end. Sleek, horizontal fog lamps can also be seen. There’s nothing new to report of at the sides of the car, though.

At the rear, the bumper has been reshaped and now features faux vents at the lower extremities. The chrome strip bifurcating the tail-lamps is also new and adds a touch of class to the look. The new Superb adopts Skoda’s new badging style as well, which replaces the traditional roundel with ‘Skoda’ lettering.

There are yet no details as to the changes that will be seen inside the cabin or under the hood, although the facelift is expected to receive a brand-new hybrid powertrain pairing a 156hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol motor with a 115hp electric motor.

The Skoda Superb facelift is likely to make its debut at the 2019 Geneva motor show in March, this year. The updated sedan should make it to India within the latter part of the year, as well.
