Renault slashes Duster prices by up to Rs 1 lakh

Renault has announced a big price cut for the Duster line-up. The drop ranges from Rs 30,000-56,000 on the petrols, and Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh on the diesels, which means the petrol Duster now starts at Rs 7.95 lakh, while the diesel range starts at Rs 8.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
The biggest saving is to be had on the RXZ 110 PS AWD model, which, at Rs 12.79 lakh, is cheaper by a full Rs 1 lakh. Other RXZ trims - the 85 PS, 110 PS and 110 PS AMT - have also received big cuts, ranging from Rs 71,000-79,000. Notably, the top-end, manual-equipped RXZ 110 (Rs 11.79 lakh) undercuts the top-spec Hyundai Creta SX (O) manual by Rs 2.7 lakh. Renault attributes this drop to a higher level of localisation, which, according to sources, has gone up from 60 percent to 80 percent over the last two years.
Additionally, compared to its performance in FY16-17, Duster sales have gone down by 18 percent this fiscal; this hefty price cut aims to remedy the situation. There was also earlier a price overlap between the Captur and the Duster, a problem this price drop solves.
