Nissan has brought out a special-edition, limited-run version of its Terrano SUV, called the Sport Edition, priced at Rs 12.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Sport Edition is only offered on the 85hp version of the diesel Terrano, which also comes in a 110hp state of tune.

The K9K 1.5-litre diesel engine is unchanged from the standard model, putting out 85hp and 200Nm of torque in this version. The motor is mated to a five-speed manual transmission, powering the car's front wheels.

On the outside, the Terrano Sport Edition gets LED daytime running lamps near the headlamps, red and black decals, a contrasting black roof and pillars, and new cladding on the wheel arches. The cabin now features a dual-tone finish, all around – brown and black for the dashboard and black and red on the seat covers and floor mats. Navigation is available as standard on this edition.

The other kit offered on the Sports Edition is at par with the top-spec XL (O) trim and includes the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, steering-mounted audio controls and voice recognition (limited to Apple smartphones only), Nissan’s Connect apps, rear parking sensors, a rear defogger and wash/wipe, and adjustable front- and rear-seat headrests.

With the Terrano Sport Edition, Nissan hopes to push sales of its SUV, which rivals the Renault Duster, the Maruti S-cross and the Hyundai Creta. In terms of pricing, the Sport Edition costs the same as the current range-topping 85hp diesel version, the Terrano XL (O), which is also priced at Rs 12.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
