Receives 1.5 lakh enquires since launch; claims it is new segment leader in sales for September and October 2017.

Hyundai has announced that its new Verna has received 20,000 bookings and over 1.5 lakh enquires for the mid-size sedan, only two months since it was introduced in the Indian market.

The Korean brand claims that the Verna has posted record sales during the months of September and October 2017, making the mid-size sedan the segment leader in sales. Hyundai also claims that 20 percent of those who bought the Verna are first-time buyers and that 25 percent of customers opted for the automatic versions of the car.

The new Verna is available in four trims, with a 123hp, 1.6-litre petrol engine and a 128hp, 1.6-litre diesel mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox.

Hyundai offers seven exterior finishes on the Verna, of which, silver, white and black are the most popular. The 2017 Verna rivals the Honda City, the Maruti Ciaz, the Skoda Rapid and the Volkswagen Vento.
