Maruti Suzuki has introduced new top-spec trims on the AMT-equipped versions of the Swift hatchback. The petrol-AMT ZXI+ has been priced at Rs 7.76 lakh while the diesel-AMT ZDI+ costs Rs 8.76 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Z+ AMT trims cost about Rs 50,000 more than their manual counterparts and Rs 70,000 more than the Z AMT variants.

While there are no mechanical changes vis-a-vis the lower-spec trims, the Z+ trim Swifts are identifiable by their dual-tone 15-inch alloy wheels and LED projector headlamps with LED daytime running lamps. On the inside, the SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system (with navigation and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility), a reverse camera and automatic headlamps with a follow-me-home feature are some of the notable additions.

Given the growing demand for automatic transmission cars in India, carmakers are making available more variants on their auto offerings. In the past, Maruti Suzuki had added the top-spec Alpha to the Baleno CVT line-up, and more recently Honda introduced the fully loaded VX trim with the updated Jazz CVT. 

Rivals for the petrol-AMT variants of the Swift (Rs 6.34-7.76 lakh) include the Hyundai Grand i10 AT (Rs 6.28-6.97 lakh) and the Ford Figo AT (Rs 8.25 lakh), while the diesel-AMT Swift is unique in the segment and has no direct rivals.

The third-gen Swift has got off to a flying start in India, clocking  1 lakh sales just 145 days after launch in our market, making it the fastest model to achieve this milestone in India. Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the Ciaz facelift in India on August 20, 2018 and will also bring the all-new Ertiga MPV to our market in the coming months.
