Lexus has brought its NX300h to India, with prices likely to start at about Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The smallest offering from the manufacturer is available in two variants – the entry-level Luxury trim and the top-spec F-Sport variant.

The SUV sports the styling seen on the facelifted model that debuted at the Shanghai motor show earlier this year. On the inside, the NX300h features a high-quality leather-wrapped cabin with soft-touch materials, electrically reclining rear seats, a 10.3-inch mulimedia display, navigation as standard, and a heads-up display. The F-Sport trim will also get paddle shifters along with unique styling on the outside and in.

The only engine on offer is the petrol-hybrid powertrain that is shared with the ES300h sedan. The 2.5-litre petrol engine is combined with a rear-mounted electric motor to produce a total output of 197hp. The powertrain is mated to a CVT gearbox that sends power to all-four-wheels. The ARAI certified fuel efficiency is 18.32kpl.

Safety kit on the hybrid SUV includes eight airbags, ABS and a vehicle stability control programme.

The Lexus NX300h’s higher asking price compared to rivals like the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLC is due to the fact that it has been brought to India as a CBU. Dealers had started taking bookings for an amount of Rs 5 lakh at the beginning of the month, though deliveries are expected in March 2018.

Parent company, Toyota, is waiting for the Yen fluctuation to settle before formally announcing India prices for the Lexus NX300h.
