Urus 'super-SUV' will come to India just over a month after its global reveal; will be launched with a sub-3-crore price tag.

Lamborghini’s Urus 'super-SUV' will be launched in India on January 11, 2018, a little over a month after its global unveiling at its mother plant in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy.

While official pricing will only be announced on January 11, we can confirm that the Urus will be priced (sans options that is) under Rs 3 crore.

The Urus will be powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with power and torque ratings of 650hp at 6,800rpm and 850Nm at 2,240-4,500rpm respectively. Power is sent to all four wheels and the rear-wheel-steering system from the Aventador S will also feature here. Lamborghini claims the Urus is the world’s fastest SUV with a 0-100kph time of just 3.6sec, and 0-200kph taking all of 12.8sec.

The Urus will play a pivotal role in expanding Lamborghini’s global sales and it is expected to help triple the carmaker's sales in India as well. Lamborghini has been accepting orders from Indian buyers over the past few months, and the entire allotment for India for 2018 has been spoken for.

To cater to the increased demand, Lamborghini is in the process of expanding its footprint in India. The number of dealerships is expected to increase from three to five in 2018, with more service outlets also being planned.
