Keen-eyed enthusiasts will know the Aventador SVJ has already reached Indian shores – the first example was delivered in December last year – but it is only now that Lamborghini has officially launched it in the country. The company has refrained from sharing a base price, but it's understood that with a handful of options ticked, the Aventador SVJ costs upwards of Rs 8.5 crore. Yes, that's significantly more expensive than the Aventador S, and it's a price you pay for the added performance and exclusivity, as only 900 examples of the Aventador SVJ will be made.

With 770hp and 720Nm of torque from the reworked 6.5-litre V12, the Aventador SVJ (that's Superveloce Jota) is level with the ultra-low-volume Centenario in terms of power, and makes 30hp more than the Aventador S. It also gets a revised 7-speed automated manual gearbox that sends power to all four wheels. Lamborghini claims the Aventador SVJ will do 0-100kph in 2.8 seconds, and clock a top speed in excess of 350kph.

Just like the Aventador S, the SVJ also gets four-wheel steering, but more importantly, it's fitted with Lamborghini's second-generation active aerodynamics system (ALA 2.0). Improvements over the first-gen system include redesigned air inlets and aero channel designs. The system aided the Aventador SVJ in lapping the Nürburgring circuit in 6 minutes, 44.97seconds – the quickest Nürburgring lap time for a production car.

It's not just extra power that makes the SVJ so special; Lamborghini claims the SVJ generates 40 percent more downforce than the Aventador SV – the former flagship of the Aventador range. Larger side air-intakes, a huge rear-wing, tweaked underbody with vortex generators and prominent rear diffuser, along with aerodynamic bodywork at the front help to achieve the improved aero figure.

The car’s exclusive aluminium Nireo wheels are shod in specially made Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres – which are now stiffer, and feature a bespoke tread design for the Aventador SVJ. A lighter, re-engineered exhaust system reduces back pressure and has been tuned to produce a 'more emotive' sound.

Lamborghini will also launch the ultra-exclusive Aventador SVJ 63 – which dons bespoke trim and livery that pays homage to the company’s founding year of 1963 – later this year. But before that, the company will launch the Huracan Evo in India on February 7.
