Hyundai Verna diesel variants now priced from Rs 9.29 lakh; 1.6-litre AT gets SX+ and SX(O) trims.

Hyundai has added a 1.4-litre diesel engine option to its popular Verna sedan line-up in addition to a 1.6-litre engine.

The Hyundai Verna 1.4-litre diesel motor is priced from Rs 9.29 lakh for the base E variant while the Verna 1.4 diesel EX trim costs Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Verna 1.4 diesel is powered by the same 90hp, 1,396cc engine that is also available on the i20 hatchback.

Additionally, Hyundai has also introduced two variants for its Verna 1.6-litre range. The Verna 1.6-litre petrol engine is now available on the new SX+ trim which is positioned between the Verna EX and the Verna SX(O) automatic. It comes with projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, LED tail-lamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, power-folding wing mirrors, a 7.0-inch infotainment system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, wireless charging and push-button start.

The Hyundai Verna 1.6 diesel SX(O) trim sits right at the top of the range and comes with adjustable rear-seat headrests, ventilated leather seats and telescopic steering. It also gets six airbags instead of two.

The company has priced the Hyundai Verna 1.6 petrol auto SX+ at Rs 11.52 lakh while the new 1.6 diesel auto SX(O) costs Rs 13.99 lakh.

The Hyundai Verna takes on the likes of the Honda City, the Maruti Ciaz, the Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen's Vento and the Skoda Rapid in the Indian market.
