Refreshed Hyundai Tucson gets styling tweaks and more equipment; expected to come to India later in 2018.

Hyundai has taken the wraps off the refreshed Tucson at the ongoing New York motor show. The updated SUV could come to India by the end of this year, where it will rival the likes of the Honda CR-V, Jeep Compass and VW's Tiguan.

The new Tucson SUV for the North American market comes with multiple driver assist features like autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist and driver attention warning technology. Additional features include a 360 degree camera, high beam assist and adaptive cruise control. The SUV will also come with an updated 8.0-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto.

Under the hood, expect the India-spec car to continue with the same engine options - the 155hp, 2.0-litre petrol engine and the 185hp, 2.0-litre diesel motor. Both come with the option of either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic.

While the Tucson range in India was competely 2WD, the brand launched the 4WD version of the SUV late last year at Rs 25.19 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Available in a single top-spec GLS trim the all-wheel-drive system only comes with the diesel engine.

At the launch of the 4WD version, Hyundai also took the opportunity to upgrade safety kit on the mid-spec GL trim. Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill Assist Control (HAC), Down Hill Brake Control (DBC) and brake assist were added to the trim.
