The price hike will be instituted in August and is claimed to be due to an increase in input and material costs.

Hyundai India will increase prices of its popular Grand i10 hatchback from August 2018 onwards by 3 percent, citing a corresponding increase in input and material costs.

The Grand i10 currently retails from Rs 4.74-7.51 lakh. This increase will see prices rise by about Rs 14,000-22,000, depending on the engine option and trim level. The car is available in 83hp, 1.2-litre petrol and 75hp, 1.2-litre diesel engine options. Both come mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard, although the petrol motor also gets the option of a four-speed torque converter automatic.

The Korean carmaker is gearing up to launch a new small hatchback that will sit under the Grand i10 in its line-up. The tall-boy hatchback will replace the now-aging Eon and may be called the Santro, reviving the brand name of Hyundai's first model made in India.

The Eon is currently priced between Rs 3.33-4.70 lakh. As the new hatchback is expected to carry a similar price tag, the increase in the Grand i10’s price could be to minimise overlap between the new Hyundai hatchback and the larger Grand i10.
