Ford EcoSport Storm will be a special edition offering for the South American markets; likely to come with 4WD.

Ford has confirmed that 2018 will see the launch of a new variant of its compact SUV, the EcoSport, in the Brazilian market. Named the EcoSport Storm, it features cosmetic tweaks on the exterior and interior.

The teaser image released by Ford shows that the Storm will come with a unique front grille with Storm badges (in Ford Raptor style) on the centre and black fog lamp garnish. It also features two black strips extended over the bonnet and small air vents at the beginning of the A-pillars.

The sides of the Strom special edition see the addition of black outside rear view mirrors, a black decal with Storm badging, black door handles, a black beltline moulding, black fender flares and new exclusive alloy wheels. On the top, it sports black roof rails, black cross roof racks and a sunroof. The orange colour is also a new addition for the Brazilian market.

On the inside, the EcoSport Storm will feature a dual-tone interior finish on the doors and centre console. The front seat backrests also get embroidered Storm badges.

Aimed primarily at the South American markets, the EcoSport Storm is powered by the same 2.0-litre Direct Flex motor mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to the front wheels. On petrol, the engine makes 170hp and 202Nm of torque, though when run on ethanol, it makes 176hp and 221Nm of peak torque.

In India, Ford sells the EcoSport with a 1.5-litre diesel and a new 1.5-litre Dragon petrol engine. There is no news yet of Ford bringing the EcoSport Storm in India. The company is, however, readying launches of the refreshed Mustang, Figo and Aspire. It will also launch a cross-hatch based on the Figo in the coming months.
