Displayed to gauge interest, the Argo Sting is a design concept that gets sporty cosmetic changes only.

Fiat took the wraps off the Argo Sting at the Sao Paulo International Motor Show 2018. The Sting is essentially the standard Argo hatchback sold in the Brazilian market, albeit redesigned so as to look sportier. The concept was created by the Italian brand’s Brazilian design team and was displayed to gauge the consumer response.

The carmaker has not revealed if the Argo Sting will get any mechanical upgrades over the standard hatchback, although it definitely looks like a go-faster model. The 'Sting' suffix is justified by having a subtly stylised wasp design, inside and out.

Besides the bright yellow paint job and a blacked-out roof and wing mirrors (providing a dual-tone exterior), the Argo Sting features new 17-inch black alloy wheels, full-LED headlamps, more aggressive front and rear bumpers, and a rear spoiler. The contrasting yellow-and-black theme continues on the inside as well, especially on the door and the seat upholstery.

For the Brazilian market, the Argo is powered by a 139hp, 1.8-litre, naturally aspirated motor, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The Fiat Argo, which served as a replacement for the Grand Punto (called the Punto in India) is not expected to come to our market anytime soon.
