Second-gen Ertiga has been engineered for significantly more room in the last row; reclining third row seats are standard too.

Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Ertiga with a starting price of Rs 7.44 lakh. The new Ertiga is 99mm longer, 40mm wider and 5mm taller than the outgoing car. The larger footprint has made the cabin more spacious and the third row in particular has been a big beneficiary. Speaking to Autocar India, C V Raman, Senior Executive Director (Engineering) Maruti Suzuki India said, “We tried to squeeze the engine space, so that has been reversed and we have been able to get 70mm of leg room in the third row, which makes it much more comfortable for passengers.” The middle row bench (there’s no captain’s chair option) can be slid forward to further increase rear legroom.

Like the old Ertiga, the third row can also be folded flat (50:50 split) to maximize luggage room when needed. However, a welcome addition on the new Ertiga and across variants is the third row seat recline which does its bit to enhance overall comfort.

The new Ertiga is available in ten variants and two engine options – a new 105hp, 1.5-litre petrol and a 90hp, 1.3-litre diesel. The Ertiga diesel is priced from Rs 8.44 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
