The third-generation Cayenne Turbo gets a new 4.0-litre turbo V8 that makes 541hp and 770Nm of torque.

The new top-of-the-line Porsche SUV has made its debut at the Frankfurt motor show. Following on the from the new 339hp, 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 powered Cayenne and 440hp, 2.9-litre turbocharged V6 Cayenne S revealed last month, the new SUV uses a new 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 that makes 541hp and 770Nm of torque. This makes it 29hp and 20Nm more than the second-generation Cayenne Turbo.

Porsche claims a 0-100kph time of just 3.9sec with the optional Sport Chrono Package. That’s 0.4sec faster than its predecessor and 0.2sec faster than the previous Cayenne Turbo S. The SUV will be fitted with the German manufacturer’s new eight-speed torque converter-equipped automatic gearbox and electro-hydraulic four-wheel drive system. Moreover, active aerodynamics will help new Porsche model hit a claimed top speed of 286kph.

Surprisingly, the new Cayenne’s claimed fuel efficiency figure has gone down to 10.24kpl from the previous model’s 10.71kpl. In terms of styling, the new Cayenne Turbo receives the same new exterior styling as other new Cayenne models but with a more aggressively styled front end, widened wheel arches with 21-inch wheels as standard.

The Cayenne Turbo also features a new chassis with rear-wheel steering, torque vectoring and an air suspension that uses three chambers on each spring strut for increased reactions. It also provides six different levels of ride height, which would be a boon for our road conditions.
