Affordable 1.4-litre petrol Verna expected to make 98.6hp and 134Nm of torque; to be offered in two trim levels.

Hyundai has added a 1.4-litre petrol engine option to its Verna line-up. The 1,368cc motor, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, is expected to make 98.6hp and 134Nm of torque, and is the second petrol unit in the mid-size sedan's line-up, with the other one being the more powerful 1.6-litre option.

The starting price (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the Verna 1.4 E variant is Rs 7.80 lakh. The better-equipped Verna 1.4 EX trim is priced at Rs 9.10 lakh.

The 1.4-litre engine in the Verna is the same unit seen in the i20 automatic. Hyundai, however, will soon discontinue this engine in the hatchback.

The feature list for the Verna 1.4 is similar to that of the 1.6-litre version. The base Verna 1.4 E comes with 15-inch steel wheels, dual airbags, ABS, tilt steering, power mirrors, a trip computer, a cooled glovebox, and a rear centre armrest. The Verna 1.4 EX additionally gets keyless entry, rear parking sensors, projector fog lamps, a front armrest, a 5.0-inch touchscreen system with four speakers, cruise control, rear AC vents and a driver’s seat height adjust as well.
