Available in a single mid-spec xLine variant, the petrol X1 is powered by a 192hp, 2.0-litre engine.

BMW has added a petrol engine model to its X1 range, the sDrive20i, priced at Rs 37.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Under the hood of the petrol X1 is a new BS-VI-compliant, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that makes 192hp and 280Nm of peak torque. Power is channelled to the front wheels (BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system is not on offer) via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The sDrive20i is only available in a single trim – the mid-spec xLine – and shares its kit with the sDrive20d xLine, which includes features such as 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped steering, power-adjustable front seats with a memory function and a 6.5-inch display for the iDrive infotainment system.

The X1 sDrive20i joins the range of diesel-powered models priced at Rs 34.40 lakh for the base-spec sDrive20d Expedition and goes up to Rs 44.50 lakh for the AWD xDrive20d M Sport. BMW had recently added a top-spec M Sport (albeit without the all-wheel-drive system) for Rs 41.50 lakh.

The other petrol-powered SUVs in the small premium luxury segment are the Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 Sport priced at Rs 34.38 lakh and the Audi Q3 30TFSI Premium, which retails at Rs 34.73 lakh.

    All prices ex-showroom, India
