The first official teaser of the next-gen Aston Martin Vantage shows a new tail-lamp design.

Aston Martin has released the first official teaser of its upcoming Vantage, which showcases the new model’s tail-lamps. The 2018 Vantage is expected to be revealed later this year.

The teaser image shows a full-length rear light strip, similar to the one seen on the new Porsche 911. The overall design of the production model will be inspired by the DB10 used in the James Bond movie Spectre, as shown by a number of spy shots of the new Vantage. However, some styling elements from the Vulcan hypercar will also feature.

Underpinned by a new generation of aluminium architecture, a shorter version of the DB11, it is expected to be lighter and stiffer than its predecessor, which will help to enhance the car’s drivng dynamics.

The entry point into the Aston Martin range will be powered by the DB11’s AMG-sourced twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 that is expected to produce about 500hp. The 70hp increase and the lighter platform should help in post quicker 0-100kph times than the 4.8 seconds claimed by the previous-gen model. The engine is expected to be mated to either a six-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic transmission.

A V12 Vantage will also arrive soon after with the same 5.2-litre twin-turbocharged engine found in the DB11. A more hardcore AMR-branded track day tool is also expected to arrive in the near future.

As part of a new model blitz, all of Aston Martin’s key cars will be refreshed and joined by an all-new DBX SUV and Lagonda. The electric RapidE was also confirmed earlier this year as a limited-run model to enter production in 2019.
