AMT comes with 1.2-litre petrol engine in two trims; prices start at Rs 5.75 lakh.

Tata has silently added the Tigor AMT to its compact sedan’s line-up and has updated its website with prices and details.

The five-speed AMT gearbox is only available in the petrol Revotron engine that displaces 1.2 litres and puts out 85hp and 114Nm of peak torque.

Tata is offering the Tigor AMT in two higher-spec trims – the XTA and the XZA – priced at Rs 5.75 lakh and Rs 6.22 lakh, respectively (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi). This is an increase of about Rs 40,000 compared to their respective manual transmission versions.

The XTA comes with full wheel covers for the 14-inch steel wheels, four speakers with the infotainment system that comes with navigation and Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones, steering mounted audio controls, rear parking sensors, two airbags and ABS with EBD. The top-spec XZA comes with the same ConnectNext infotainment system, though with four speakers and two tweeters and 15-inch alloy wheels. Both AMT models also get a Sport mode in addition to the Eco and City drive modes.

The Tigor AMT rivals the likes of the Maruti Dzire petrol AMT (starting at Rs 6.73 lakh), Ford Aspire automatic (Rs 8.34 lakh) and Honda Amaze CVT (starting at Rs 7.37 lakh) in the very competitive compact sedan segment (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

At this price point, the Tigor AMT, though a bit smaller, is nearly a lakh cheaper than the current segment leader, the Dzire AMT.
