The reduction in cost is thanks to Renault passing on benefits of GST to customers; ranges from Rs 5,200 to Rs 29,500.

Renault has announced that its Kwid hatchback is now priced starting at Rs 2.62 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) instead of the earlier Rs 2.65 lakh. This reduction in price is thanks to the implementation of the Goods and Service Tax (GST). The price cuts range from Rs 5,200 to Rs 29,500, depending on the state of purchase and the variant.

The Kwid is powered by a 54hp, 799cc, three-cylinder petrol engine and a 68hp, 999cc, three-cylinder engine. The larger petrol motor gets an option of a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT while the smaller engine comes paired with a five-speed manual only.

T This SUV-styled hatchback is available in 0.8 litre, 1.0-litre MT and 1.0-litre AMT. Renault also offers the Kwid Climber which gets the 1.0-litre engine mated to either the manual or the AMT.

The Kwid faces stiff competition from the likes of Maruti Suzuki’s Alto 800 and Alto K10, the Datsun Redigo and the Hyundai Eon in the hatchback segment. Renault’s hatchback has been a game changer for the French brand, recording sales of over 1,75,000 units since its launch in 2015.
