Triumph has unveiled the facelifted version of the popular Street Twin at the 2018 INTERMOT motorcycle show in Germany. The biggest update on the new Street Twin has been made to its powerplant. According to the British brand, the new motorcycle’s 900cc, parallel-twin motor now develops 64hp – an 18 percent increase (older engine produced 55hp) in power output – and the redline is also 500rpm higher. Peak torque remains identical to its predecessor at 76Nm, but it now arrives at 3,800rpm instead of 3,200rpm. Other modifications to the powerplant include a lighter crank and balancer shaft, magnesium cam cover and a lighter clutch.

2019 Triumph Street Twin

Similar to the Bonneville range, the 2019 Street Twin now gets two engine modes – Road and Rain, each with a custom throttle map and traction control settings for the described conditions. Braking hardware has been updated with Brembo 4-piston calipers at the front, and it also employs a higher-specification cartridge fork for better ride quality and improved dynamics.

Styling remains almost identical to the older bike barring for the brushed aluminium brackets on the headlight, machined alloy wheels and redesigned tank badge. Triumph also claims that the finish and detailing on the bike have been improved. Also new are the materials used on the seat and the addition of thicker padding for better comfort. The same updates have been carried forward on the 2019 Street Scrambler as well and it gets switchable ABS.

The Street Twin is among the most popular motorcycles from the British marque in India and it’s likely that the new model will be launched in our market soon after its European debut.
