Early in January 2019, Bajaj updated its Avenger Cruise 220 and Avenger Street 220 models with a single-channel ABS unit. And now – going by what seems like an official poster – the company has revealed that the Avenger Street 180 is all set to be updated with a similar unit in the coming weeks. A similar poster also shows that the Cruise 220 ABS will be officially launched soon, too. Dealers revealed that the Avenger Cruise 220 ABS is priced at Rs 1.02 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune), a Rs 6,700 hike over its non-ABS variant. A similar increase can be expected on the current price tag of Rs 86,611 on the Avenger Street 180 (ex-showroom, Pune).

It is unlikely that the Street 180 and Cruise 220 will receive any other updates besides the safety feature. The Street 180 is powered by a 180cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 15.5hp at 8,500rpm and 13.7Nm at 6,500rpm, and is one of the most affordable motorcycles in the entry-level cruiser segment. Once equipped with ABS, the bike will take on its closest competitor – the Intruder 150 ABS (Rs 1,02 lakh, ex-showroom Pune) – on a more level playing field.

The Cruise 220, on the other hand, is powered by a single-cylinder 220cc engine that makes 19hp at 8,400rpm and 17.5Nm of torque at 7,000rpm.

With the mandatory ABS deadline of April 1, 2019, just around the corner, the non-ABS variants of the bike will be discontinued
