Suzuki makes the Gixxer safer with the addition of a single-channel ABS as an optional extra.

We had got you exclusive pictures of the Suzuki Gixxer ABS last month and Suzuki has now launched the new variant of the motorcycle in India. The Suzuki Gixxer ABS has been priced at Rs 87,250 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which makes the ABS variant Rs 6,321 more expensive than the twin-disc Gixxer variant. The Suzuki Gixxer has been equipped with a single-channel ABS and it’s only available with rear disc brake model. The new Suzuki Gixxer ABS will be available in three dual-tone colours – Metallic Triton Blue/Glass Sparkle Black, Candy Sonoma Red/Metallic Sonic Silver and Glass Sparkle Black. The addition of ABS on the Gixxer means that all 150cc Suzuki motorcycles now feature this safety tech as an option.

Commenting on the launch, Sajeev Rajasekharan, EVP, Sales and Marketing, SMIPL, said, “The ABS option allows us to improve on an already exciting riding experience for our Gixxer customers. The Gixxer series is an important cog of our India product-strategy. With enhancements like ABS, we will continue to improve on the value-proposition we offer to our customers.”

Apart from the addition of ABS, no changes have been made on the Gixxer. Powering the bike is a 155cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine producing 14.8hp at 8,000rpm and 14Nm at 6,000rpm. While the Suzuki Intruder and Gixxer SF receive fuel-injection as an optional extra, the Gixxer will continue to be offered with a carburettor only. The Suzuki Gixxer ABS will compete against the Honda CB Hornet 160R, Yamaha FZ-S Fi, Bajaj Pulsar NS160 and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.

    Suzuki Gixxer pricing (ex-showroom, Delhi):

Rear drum variant – Rs 77,015

Rear disc variant – Rs 80,929

    ABS variant – Rs 87,250
